Located in the heart of New Braunfels, just minutes from the downtown Main Plaza, Landa Park offers a variety of activities for visitors and locals alike.
Depending on your schedule and available time, you can spend either a relaxing afternoon or quick energetic outing to the park.
The 196-acre park features a number of picnic tables under giant oak trees throughout the park.
Picnic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Park Rangers will come by the table to collect the $10 per table picnic fee.
In addition to the tables, there are a number of jogging or walking trails — for you and all the members of your family, including pets. Numerous dogs can be seen throughout the park, enjoying nature’s beauty.
There’s even a miniature train that chugs and puffs its way around the city park to the delight of many children and parents.
Other activities include paddle boating, which park officials say is one of the best ways to see the Comal Springs and Landa Lake.
For amateur and beginner golfers, a round of miniature golf is a must for only $2, while there’s also the 18-hole Landa Park Golf Course covering a beautiful 52 acres.
For the nature lovers, enjoy the flora and fauna on the Panther Canyon Nature Trail of the walking arboretum trail, where you will be able to enjoy more than 70 different species of trees.
If your plans call for more than a small family gathering and more space is needed, such as a family reunion, business meeting, wedding reception, seasonal party or other special event, the Landa Haus, located in the heart of Landa Park, can be the solution.
The facility can accommodate up to 170 guests, has restrooms and disabled accessibility, as well as an indoor kitchenette.
The climate-controlled facility is available year-round, however, a large outdoor barbeque pit sits next to a covered outside pavilion with ceiling fans and picnic tables overlooking Landa Lake, if needed.
Reservations for Landa Haus can be made up to 18 months in advance, and a $150 refundable damage deposit is required for each rental, in addition to the rental amount.
In addition to all of the activities available within the park, including a spring-fed pool, there’s also the Comal River that runs right through the park and leads down to the City Tube Chute through the Hinman Island Park.
The longest tube chute in the world, the City Tube Chute is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. beginning Memorial Day and costs $5
